Bujo with Daisy: Getting Started
Hi, it's Daisy here!
Today I will talk about bullet journalling and how to get started.
So what is a bullet journal?
The Bullet Journal is an organizational system in a notebook created by Ryder Carroll. According to him, the Bullet Journal is designed “to help you track the past, organize the present, and plan for the future”. It can be your task manager, sketchbook, journal, idea pads, mood tracker, travel log and everything you want it to be. Bullet journal is also known as bujo.
What kind of notebook or journal should you buy if you want to start a bujo?
Well, you can buy any notebook that you want. However, if you're really looking one for a specific purpose, there are many types of pages available out there. You can opt for a bujo with blank pages, grid, dotted or lined. For those who like doodles, go for blank pages. For beginners like me, I recommend grid or dotted pages as they can be your guide in planning your bujo.
Where can you buy grid or dotted pages notebook?
In Malaysia, for some reason it is hard to fine notebook with grid or dotted pages. Some bookstores such as Popular may have them but they are quite pricey. I bought my bujo from Shopee. I'm very happy with the quality and it was only RM30! I bought mine here.
What else do I need for bullet journalling?
If you have basic stationary supplies like a pen, a pencil and eraser, you're pretty much good to go. But if you want to spice up the looks of your journal a little more, you can buy art supplies such as brush pens, markers and colour pencils. For me, these are the pens and highlighters that I use.
1. Zebra Mildliner Dual Tip —Highlighter and marker. I bought them in a bundle which costed RM27. You can buy them individually as well, and it costs around RM5.90 or less.
2. Tombow Play Colour K — Super fine tip and marker.
3. Staedtler Pigment Liner — 0.3 and 0.7. I use them for writing titles or headers.
I think those are the essentials that one may need before starting a bullet journal. If you are still clueless on how to start, you can search for ideas from Pinterest or watch Youtube. There are plenty bujo channels/ accounts out there that may give you inspirations. My personal favourite is AmandaRachLee! Her bujo are amazing. Also, if you are a beginner, I suggest doing simple design for your bujo so that you don't feel really pressured to produce aesthetic journal which can lead you to feel demotivated.
That's all from me, see you in the next entry!
